DALTONGANJ, OCT 16: In the on-going war of supremacy between two rival extremist organisations — Jan Mumkti Morcha and the dreaded Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) — an activist of MCC was gunned down today by the Morcha supporters in naxalite-affected Palamu district of Bihar, according to police.
Police sources said Morcha activists kidnapped one Yugalbhuiyan, stated to be MCC supporter from Bari village of Palamu district and shot him dead.
Confirming the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police Lathehar, Amarjit Singh Balihar told newsmen that the killing was the result of the ongoing war of supremacy between the two factions of the extremists organisations.
Police conducted raids on the hideouts of Morcha supporters and seized one regular gun and police uniform from Keeta village of the district, the DSP said.
Earlier on Saturday, armed MCC activists blew up the newly-constructed Bharaundha police picket with dynamite in Bihar’s Gaya district, police sources said.
Over 100 MCC men, armed with sophisticated weapons, surrounded the police picket and detonated a dynamite to blow it up, it added.
They also exploded bombs and fired several rounds to intimidate villagers of Bharaundha during their operation.
The personnel of the Bihar Military Police posted at the picket fired eight rounds to chase away the ultras.
A combing operation has been launched to apprehend the attackers.
Two persons have so far been taken into custody in this connection.
Meanwhile, Central para-military forces patrolled the streets of Siwan in North Bihar town today as the dawn-to-dusk bandh, called by the CPI(ML) to protest against the recent killing of 11 members of a family, evoked mixed response, officials said.
An official spokesman described the situation as tense and said that three companies of the CRPF and two of the Rapid Action Force, besides contingents of the Bihar Military Police, have been rushed here from Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur and Jamalpur to assist in maintaining order.
Eleven members of a family were gunned down on Friday night at Mujajidpur village in what the authorities described as a land dispute.
