AMRITSAR, OCT 28: The damage-control excercise by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Bibi Jagir Kaur's supporters, received a major set back here yesterday when Akal Takhat Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti rejected the demand of 11-member delgation who had sought to summon Bibi's political rivals to the Takht.Vedanti asked SGPC members to ``refrain'' from involving the Akal Takht in the politico-legal issue regarding the registration of FIR into the Harpreet case. He however, accepted the copy of the memorandum submitted to him. The Jathedar said,``I only want to say that every body should restrain itself from making an issue out of this legal matter,'' he said.Bibi Jagir Kaur, named as a prime accused in the case, has not been seen in public since last two weeks. Her supporters, had earlier met the Vedanti to summon former Akali minister Sukhjinder Singh and his son Sukhpal Singh Khehra, secretary, PPCC.The Jathedar reaffirmed that Akal Takht would discuss only religious matters pertaining to various issues before the `panth' and would not deliberate any political, including Bibi Jagir Kaur's fate.
