PUNE, April 26: The first ever meeting of party leaders in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) with Municipal Commissioner Arun Bhatia on Monday saw the latter agreeing to several suggestions like issuing Rs 100 crore public bonds for raising funds for improving roads and water supply and allotting a specific time for meeting elected representatives.Bhatia agreed to a host of suggestions which include attending the general body meetings and allotting a specific time of 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. to meet corporators, Mayor Dattatraya Gaikwad told media persons. Likewise Bhatia attended the general body meet which was adjourned later.Bhatia also assured that he would issue press statements on major policy decisions in consultation with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and standing committee chairman. The party leaders emphasised that though they appreciated Bhatia's drive regarding illegal constructions, enough time should be given to development works.Similarly the party leaders said that the standing committee would discuss and decide regarding the proposed reallocation of funds to the tune of Rs 9 crore. Bhatia had proposed such a reallocation to expedite pending development works like shifting of the garbage depot to Yevlewadi and improvement of slums. While various suggestions like improving the efficiency of 12 divisional ward offices and providing information on a fortnightly basis to corporators regarding the development works were accepted, Bhatia, in a lighter vein also urged the elected representatives to refrain from asking him to help with `any kind of illegal work'.
