Former Information and Broadcasting Secretary Bhaskar Ghosh was today appointed Media Advisor to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee, for a period of three months.

Ghosh, who will take up his new position tomorrow said, “It is going to be a full-time job, even though for a short period. I am looking forward to it.’’ The appointment was made before the Speaker left for the Commonwealth Parliamentarians Conference in Fiji.

“He would be advising us on how best to manage the two 24-hour dedicated channels (DD Lok Sabha and DD Rajya Sabha),’’ Chatterjee said while announcing Ghosh’s appointment. Apart from advising the Lok Secretariat and Doordarshan on to make best use of the dedicated TV channels by telecasting more programmes related to Parliament, he will have the over all responsibility of managing the Speaker’s media relations.

Presently ,only DD Lok Sabha and DD Rajya Sabha are involved in direct telecast of the House proceedings.
