NAIROBI, OCTOBER 8: The Indian team management has reportedly asked the selection committee to include an off-spinner in the squad for the tri-angular series in Sharjah scheduled for later this month.
The other competitors in the tournament, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, have a number of left-handers in their sides and the team management feels an off-spinner would be quite effective against them, a source said here.
With Nikhil Chopra’s chances of returning to the team being quite grim in view of the a CBI inquiry against him, the management may opt for an all-rounder to strengthen the team, he said.
Though any names have not been disclosed, the source said Vijay Bharadwaj of Karnataka stood a good chance in view of his recent performances both with the bat and the ball in domestic cricket.
