NEW DELHI, February 6: Former Union minister H.K.L. Bhagat today joined hands with the official Congress candidate from east Delhi Shiela Dikshit and urged the voters of his former bastion to vote for her.

After persuasion by senior Delhi Congress leaders Bhagat began canvassing for Shiela Dikshit. He accompanied her on her election campaign today.

Former union minister Shiela Dikshit today spoke of her close association with the Nehru-Gandhi family and said she had lived up to the expectations of the people and the family.

Bhagat too urged the voters to vote for the Congress party and said that Sonia Gandhi had infused confidence into party workers.

CLARIFICATION: Bhagat in a statement clarified that he did not address any press conference at the All India Congress Committee office but had done the same at the Delhi Pradesh office of the Congress. He also claimed that he did not ask `who is Vadra?’ but had said that he did not know Vadra was campaigning.
