MUMBAI, JAN 1: The BEST Undertaking will introduce at least 25 new air-conditioned buses in addition to the existing fleet of 21. “Depending on the demand we will decide the routes,” Chairperson of BEST Committee Arving Nerkar said while announcing plans for 1999 on Thursday.
The undertaking will also make a foray into city tourism with the introduction of four buses fitted with polycarbonate roofs. As a new year gift to the residents of Nariman Point, Colaba and Backbay Reclamation, the undertaking has announced a 110 KV supply station. Nerkar claimed that the supply station, which will be formally inaugurated by Prime Minister A B Vajpayee in February, would cater to over 50,000 consumers.
