Small is not beautiful and it’s certainly not best for BEST. The public sector undertaking has gone to court over an ‘‘objectionable’’ mineral water advertisement depicting ‘‘BEST’’ and claimed it belittles ‘‘the world’s most prestigious and efficient transport body’’.The new Bada Bisleri ad set against a tiny BEST double decker, with the punchline “Seems everything seem small”, has so outraged the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport undertaking (BEST) that it has slapped a legal notice on Bisleri demanding withdrawal of the ad.BEST General Manager S.S. Kshatriya said, ‘‘Such advertising belittles our organisation,’’ he said. ‘‘Every Mumbaiite is proud of BEST and nobody should depict it in such a manner,’’ he added. The BEST management has demanded the ads be discontinued and has asked Bisleri to apologise. ‘‘Bisleri should tell the public it was wrong to release such ads,’’ says Kshatriya. The organisation has issued a statement expressing outrage at great length.‘‘By the above ad, the BEST bus is depicted in such a manner so as to belittle the most prestigious and efficient transport service in the world, portraying the BEST bus in poor light and taste in the eyes of the public.’’BEST committee chairman Ashok Chemburkar says that permission was not taken from them before the ad. ‘‘It is highly inappropriate to make use of a BEST bus or logo without prior permission.’’Bisleri officials could not be contacted.
