The Sewree fast-track court on Friday acquitted alleged ‘serial killer’ Ravindra Kantrole, infamously known as the ‘Beer Man’, in one of the three murder cases registered against him.

Additional ad-hoc Judge P T Chaware observed that the prosecution had failed to prove the case against the accused. The court also observed that even though Kantrole might have carried out the offence, there was no evidence to nail him.

Kantrole, who was arrested in January 2007, had been charged with the murder of three of the seven men found dead in south Mumbai under mysterious circumstances between October 2006 and February 2007.

“Kantrole has been falsely implicated in all the three cases. If the prosecution was so sure of his offence, why has it withdrawn the testimony of one of the witnesses—assistant chemical analyser Sunny Joseph of Kalina’s Forensic Science Laboratory,” Kantrole’s lawyer Sushan Kunjuraman said.

Joseph had conducted tests on Kantrole after his arrest. However, in his final psychological evaluation report, Joseph concluded that the polygraph and brain-mapping tests did not show Kantrole’s involvement.
