DUBAI, May 26: Boris Becker has said it was unlikely he would play at Wimbledon this year. Earlier this month, the three-time Wimbledon champion hinted that he may make one final appearance in his favourite Grand Slam event.

But Becker, in Dubai at the opening of a new boutique yesterday, said:“I will be going to Wimbledon as a coach, but I doubt I will go as player.”

Becker who helped Germany to victory in the World Team Cup in Duesseldorf on Sunday, said he was relishing the challenge of coaching the country’s senior and junior players.

“The youngsters are taking vast strides. When I started training them six months ago, we didn’t have anyone in the top 50.

“But with my coaching and new training stuff the team have done very well to win the World Cup,”said Becker.
