In a few hours, the most sought-after tour dates in recent cricket history will be announced when BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya makes public India’s schedule in Pakistan. Dalmiya bowled a teasing line at his press conference today, saying the dates would be known only tomorrow afternoon but would include a warm-up game.

He also produced a googly, saying the tour — which will be delayed, as expected, by 5-6 days — could be split into two parts.

‘‘Which tour has not been played in two parts? There are different sets of players for the tests and one-dayers. So wait till tomorrow and you will come to know’’, he said.

However, Dalmiya’s statement doesn’t necessarily mean a clean break between Tests and ODIs. It is possible, BCCI sources said, that just the ODI series will be split, with some on this tour and some later, possibly September.

Sources in the PCB said this was possible, and would also make adjustment on the venues easier. For example, the series could see a Test at Karachi and then an ODI in the second phase, satisfying both the Indian security viewpoint and Pakistani sentiments on the port city.

For now, it’s reasonably certain that there will be an ODI at Peshawar.
