The chaotic departure of the Indian cricket team, with captain Sourav Ganguly himself reaching the squad hotel late last night just a few hours before the departure for Zimbabwe, has upset the BCCI, apart from coach Greg Chappell.

“The board is not happy with the (casual) attitude of some players. We are seriously thinking on how to set this right,” said Board secretary S K Nair.

According to the board’s instructions to the players, they were scheduled to check into the hotel near the airport’s international terminal before mid-day, but some players arrived much later than that.

The waiting media contingent at the hotel witnessed the entry of at least two players – Mohd Kaif and Harbhajan Singh — at around 8 pm and then that of Ganguly at 9.40 pm before he addressed the media at an officially arranged pre-departure conference at 10pm.
