MUMBAI, March 5: The Bombay High Court today ordered the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to grant sponsorship rights to Pepsi Foods Limited for the India-Australia Test series and the triangular One-Day International (ODI) cricket series that follows.

The court today ruled that anyone other than Pepsi cannot be allowed to sponsor the events since they had entered into an agreement with the board on Sept 4, 1996.

Justice K K Baam today passed an interim order stating that BCCI should allow the multinational giant Pepsi Foods to sponsor the series pending the hearing of the arbitration proceedings between them.

The judge admitted the petition and made it returnable after six weeks. She observed that rights of the warring parties will be protected since the interpretation of the agreement between the two parties will be thrashed out during arbitration.
