South African trainer Allistair McCaw, who is currently with the Dutch cricket team and a contender for taking over the Indian team, has denied reports that he will be coming to the country for an interview with the Indian cricket board (BCCI).

McCaw, told The Indian Express on phone from his base in The Netherlands, that contrary to reports he ‘may not’ come to India on June 26 for talks with Indian board officials. The South African trainer said, ‘‘Nothing’s been confirmed for now. So I cannot say anything about that.’’

In fact, McCaw revealed that so far, he has not been approached ‘directly’ by any official of the BCCI. ‘‘But, I did speak to Adrian Le Roux.’’ McCaw was referring to the former Indian trainer, who after quiting, has been asked by the BCCI to look for a replacement. Even if ‘‘things materialised’’ with BCCI, McCaw informed, that he is still under contract with Royal Dutch Cricket Board (KNCB). ‘‘Whatever is the decision I will first have to talk to them (KNCB) before taking any future step.’’

As the Dutch team trainer-cum-fielding coach McCaw got rave reviews for his stint in the 2003 World Cup.
