Doordarshan today struck two deals — one with the BBC World Trust for an AIDS campaign and the other with Canal France International to air select French films.

BBC World Service Trust, the NGO arm of BBC World Service, in partnership with Prasar Bharati Corporation and National AIDS Control Organisation (Naco) will launch a two-year project to counter AIDS. The target states have low awareness — Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan, BBC World Service Director Mark Byford said.

‘‘DD and AIR have allocated more than Rs 25-crore worth airtime for the project,’’ said Controller of Programmes and Development Communication Division chief Usha Bhasin.
