PUNE, JAN 13: Residents of Dehu Road, about 40 km from here, resorted to an indefinite bandh this morning after military jawans allegedly beat up citizens in this cantonment town last night following a clash.

Trouble was sparked off when two military jawans in civilian dress allegedly abused and misbehaved with a woman hawker at Parshi Chawl near the railway station.

The woman retaliated by catching them by the collar and hitting them with a bathroom brush and at the same time crying for help.

The Defence Public Relations Officer, said “a court of inquiry has been ordered by the Army which will inquire into the whole incident and would submit its report by January 25.”

Senior police officials would also participate in the inquiry, he said.

No arrests have been made so far in this connection, police said.
