CHANDIGARH, Nov 24: District Child Welfare Council, Panchkula, will set up a Bal Bhavan in the township's Sector 15 at a cost (first phase) of Rs 40 lakh.Announcing the plan, Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Saroj Siwatch, who is also District Child Welfare Council president, also outlined a number of additional projects for villages in the district. Among these are:A mini Bal Bhavan for village Bhoj Jabyal in Morni Block to be constructed at a total cost of Rs 6 lakh;A craft centre at village Mahadevpur in Pinjore Block and another in village Bad Godam; andCreches at Barwala, Pinjore and Kalka to provide day-care to the children of working mothers.Reporting on the activities of the mini-Bal Bhavan at Kalka which provides several vocational and hobby courses, Siwach noted that 104 girls have received training.The cost of informal education programmes for very poor children is being met by the Sri Mansa Devi Devasthanam Sthanstha which has granted Rs 48,000 for the project.
