CHANDIGARH, April 23: Bajaj auto , which claims to be the fourth largest manufacturer of two-wheelers in the world plans to come out with six new models within the next 18 months, a company spokesman told mediapersons here this afternoon. He said that the range of new scooters, scooterettes and motor cycles is expected to ensure company’s leadership well into the next century. The new products and upgrades of the existing models would be displayed at the three-day " Bajaj Auto-Expo 98", commencing at the Parade Grounds tomorrow.

The Expo would be inaugurated by Finance Minister Punjab Kanwaljit Singh. Similar Expos would later be organised at some other places in Punjab including Ludhiana.

The new models include Spirit, a 60 cc scooterette, Saffire – a 74 cc four-stroke scooter, Legend – 160 cc scooter with a 4 -stroke engine, Mercury -110 cc – 4 stroke motor cycle made in collaboration with Kawasaki, Prowler – a 125 cc 12.5 BHP engine motor cycle and Eliminator – 175cc chopper motor cycle. The prices of these new models range between Rs 20,000 and Rs 75,000. The city, being a scooter market, will first see the launch of the scooter Legend in the second half of 1998. It will be priced at Rs 35,000.
