CHANDIGARH, Nov 19: The bail applications moved by "proclaimed offender" and an alleged activist of the Khalistan Liberation Force Gurcharanjit Singh, besides Gurvinder Singh, were rejected by UT Additional District and Sessions Judge S.S. Lamba today.
The duo, accused of blowing up a portion of the Sector 26 police station in July 1990, were arrested by the Chandigarh Police early this month.
A Resident of Sallohpur village in Gurdaspur district, Gurcharanjit Singh had been booked by the police under Section 307, 427, 212 and 120-B of the IPC, besides Section 3 and 4 of the TADA Act. He was also booked under Section 3 and 4 of the Explosives Act. The accused was reportedly declared a proclaimed offender by the court in March 1991.
He, along with constable Satwinder Singh and Balwant Singh of the Chandigarh Police, besides Doulat Singh had caused an explosion at the police station, according to the prosecution. While Satwinder Singh and Balwinder Singh were arrested, Gurcharanjit Singh, along with Doulat Singh had absconded. Co-accused Gurvinder Singh, was, meanwhile, arrested from his residence in S.A.S. Nagar. According to the prosecution, the conspiracy was hatched at his residence.
