CHANDIGARH, Sept 30: Co-accused in the 12-year-old lottery scandal, Jasmine Madan, was granted bail by UT Additional District and Sessions Judge S. S. Lamba today.She was directed to furnish a personal bond of Rs 20,000 along with a surety of a like amount. Taking up the case, the judge also issued summons to Ms Swati Distributors for November 11.Earlier, the court had granted bail to senior Punjab IAS officer B R Bajaj and other accused, H K Chug, Om Parkash, Mukesh Kumar and Arun Kumar. Jasmine Madan had been summoned for today as the summons issued earlier could not be served on her.It may be recalled that the Central Bureau of Investigations, in the chargesheet filed on May 14 before the court of then Special Judge, had alleged that Bajaj, acting as the finance secretary, had allegedly flouted the Central Government directions.He had approved a private lottery to H K Chugh and Company at a bid of Rs 96 lakh, ignoring the highest royalty bidder B. Kumar and Company, which had offered Rs 2 crore in the tender. The company was not enjoying a good reputation, was cited as the reason by Bajaj, the CBI had said in the chargesheet.It was added that the tender committee had first approved the bid of Rs 2 crore but this decision was allegedly reversed by Bajaj.
