The Congress today released a list of 20 candidates for Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan and Uttaranchal.
The nominees include the son of a former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and former MPs. Vijay Bahuguna, son of former Uttar Pradesh CM H.N. Bahuguna, will contest from Tehri Garhwal, while Renuka Rawat, the wife of Uttaranchal PCC Harish Rawat, will contest from Almora in Uttaranchal, according to the list released by AICC general secretary Oscar Fernandes.
Five sitting Andhra MPs have also been given tickets. L. Rajgopal, the son-in-law of former Union minister P. Upendra, will contest from Vijayawada. The sitting MPs are M. Srinivasulu Reddy from Ongole, K.S. Rao from Eluru, R. Sambasiva Rao from Guntur, Raj Mohan Reddy from Narasaraopet and Chinta Mohan from Tirupati (SC).
In Orissa, Pinaki Mishra has been fielded from Puri. Three candidates were announced from Rajasthan — Ved Prakash Gujjar from Bharatpur, Habibur Rahman from Ajmer and Badri Ram Jakhar from Jodhpur.
The party also released the names of 117 candidates for the second phase of Andhra Assembly elections.
