Environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna, Director of the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research R.A. Mashelkar, Bhajan singer from Chennai ‘Pithukuli’ Murugadas and parliamentarian K.C. Pant were on Saturday honoured with this year’s Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi National Eminence Award.
They were honoured in recognition of the ‘difference’ they have striven for in technology, spiritualism, politics and ecology. The awards are given away in memory of the Kanchi math’s Shankaracharya, the late Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati, by the South Indian Educational Society and supported by The Indian Express Group. The award comprises a cash prize of Rs.2.5 lakh.
