CHANDIGARH, March 20: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was operated for a liver ailment four days ago in a private hospital in New York and is reported to be convalescing.This was disclosed here today by Punjab Minister for Local Bodies Balramji Dass Tandon, who is officiating as Chief Minister these days. However, details of the kind of ailment and surgery have not been given out. His recovery and return are keenly awaited in the political circles in the state. The developments are contrary to the official statements that Badal was on a trip to the US to woo NRI investments.
