Speedster Brad Williams, who brought Australia on the brink of a series-levelling win with a four-wicket haul, today said his team wanted to ‘‘stay on top’’ of Sachin Tendulkar right through the series.
‘‘He (Tendulkar) is obviously not in the best of nick and we want to stay on top of him,’’ said the fast bowler. ‘‘His confidence is down a bit. So we are really trying to go hard at him early on, and so far it is working.’’ Tendulkar scored 44, his best knock so far in the series, before he snicked an outgoing delivery to be caught by the keeper.
Williams said he was delighted when he had the Little Master dismissed in India’s second innings. ‘‘It is always great to get the wicket of the best batsman in the world. He was looking pretty solid on the backfoot so I wanted him to drive. Luckily he nicked one,’’ said Williams. ‘‘It was probably the result of my plan. I don’t know if it was in the team plan.’’
