Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad accommodated four more members in his Council of Ministers on Tuesday after Congress’ Minister of State Prem Sagar Aziz put in his papers to pave the way for new faces. With this, the number of ministers in the state has gone up to 25.
At a simple ceremony organised at Raj Bhavan, Mula Ram and Abdul Ghani Vakil were sworn-in as Cabinet ministers. Choudhary Gharu Ram and GM Saroori took oath as Ministers of State.
While Vakil is becoming a minister for the first time, this is Mula Ram’s second stint as Cabinet minister. Inderwal MLA Saroori has been inducted to give representation to the far-flung districts of Doda, Bhaderwah and Ramban.
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, however, declined to call it the final expansion of his Cabinet. “People can go and come…..nothing is last and final in politics,” he said, adding that the portfolios will be announced in a day or so. Praising Prem Sagar Aziz, Azad said very few people exhibit such spirit for the party.
Azad also announce that Arvinder Singh Micky would be made Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council during the forthcoming Budget Session.
