The Union Home Ministry is likely to ask the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh to seek permission from the Supreme Court to build a protective ring around the makeshift Ram temple in Ayodhya.
The Ministry is understood to have accepted the suggestions made by technical committee on the security of the disputed structure following the attack by terrorists on July 5.
Two committees, at the Centre and state levels, were set up to look into the breach of security at the complex which allowed the terrorists to reach the makeshift temple. The committees were also asked to review the security in Agra and the Kasi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi.
The committee has recommended a wire mesh and bullet-proof protection around the structure. Besides, it has called for a tighter security cordon around the structure and closed-circuit cameras.
Sources said since the Ministry feels that security should be increased, the state government must seek the Supreme Court’s permission.
