AYODHYA, DEC 3: In its continuing efforts to allay the fears of minorities due to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s proposed programme on the fifth anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, the district administration today held all community meetings at five sensitive places here.

Senior administrative and police officers assured the people at these meetings that peace will be maintained at all cost. One such meeting will be held at the Ram Janma Bhumi police station tomorrow. The meetings were attended by District Magistrate Avneesh Kumar Avasthi, SSP B K Maurya, SP City Ratan Kumar and a large number of citizens from different communities.

Though the minorities have fears in view of the changed political situation and the proposed karsewaks conference on December 14, rumours more than the prevailing situation, have made them apprehensive of some violence on December six.

Some prominent Muslim citizens of Ayodhya have denied that Muslims were fleeing the city and appealed to the people not to panic due to rumours. Meanwhile, SSP B K Maurya has said that he had personally met some Muslim families and assured them about their security.

SP City Ratan Kumar said that a committee of ten people from both the communities was being formed in every police out post. It will maintain constant touch with the administration and keep a watch on the situation, he said.

Meanwhile, preparations for the VHP’s Ram Jagran Dharma Yatra are in full swing.
