
CHENNAI, Oct 2: Twenty five police personnel, including detectives who were part of the investigating team that probed the serial blasts in Coimbatore, have been presented the Chief Minister’s Anna Medal.
The investigating team led by IG (Operations) Jagan Seshadri had seized large quantities of explosives and pipe bombs from 13 extremists hideouts in different parts in Coimbatore after the blasts and had defused the car bomb in a 60-minute operation.
Police personnel who were part of the Special Investigating Team (SIT), that probed the serial blasts including Superintendent of Police C Murugeshwaran and P Thamarai Kannan have been presented with the medal for risking their lives and apprehending the accused involved in the blasts.
Additional Superintendent of Police S Manoharan, DSP S Muthusamy, Inspectors Asir Vijayakumar and R. Nagarajan have been presented the Anna Award for being part of the operation.
Sub Inspector M Chandrasekaran, Head Constable N Sivasakthi Selvam, Constable Pachaiyappanhave also been presented the medal for seizing large quantities of explosives in different parts in the textile city. The SIT had identified 188 persons, some from nearby States, being responsible for the blasts and arrested 150 persons.
