Being a NRB (non-resident Bihari) I feel ashamed Satyendra Dubey was killed in his own state simply because he was honest. Such an incident lets down all right-minded residents of Bihar. It compels them to think of leaving Bihar for good. At this rate, Bihar will soon become a ghost state.

Shravan K. Thakur

Let Dubey’s death be a wake up call for the Bihar government and those supporting it. As Indians, the best tribute we can pay him is to punish his killers.

Yasmin Hangad

For me Dubey is a hero. We need more like him to clean up the system so that our country can achieve what it deserves. Let this issue not die down. Let us make the fight against corruption an ongoing movement.

It is time more Dubeys appear in this land and expose the dons turned politicians.

Dubey’s murder has to be condemned and justice ensured. However, it is disturbing the way many IIT graduates or students have written to your paper saying this will only push them towards migration, that they wouldn’t want to end up like Dubey — a cadaver on India’s lonely highway.

As I see it, this is an insult to a man who opted not to go abroad, probably unlike most of his friends, and stayed behind to make things better. Those who wish Dubey well would do well to try and make a difference where it matters.

Debarshi Dasgupta

Dubey’s murder is a symptom of mafia raj. It also highlights the insensitive nature of the government. At the end of the day, I’m fairly certain no one in authority will be held responsible in the Dubey affair — or for unwarranted harassment of hundreds of whistleblowers in various government departments.

Thousands of such cases are suppressed in the name of ‘‘administrative matter’’. The poor conscience-keeper is pushed to the edges of the system. Even newspapers won’t consider taking up the cause of smaller whistleblowers till someone dies, as Dubey had to.

Priyadarshini

Dubey’s tragedy tells us how difficult it is for a common Indian to strive for improvement in the 100 per cent corrupt political system we have created in India. Please don’t discontinue the series. Keep it alive till we get hold of the culprits and hang them in public.
