The president of Abhinav Bharat and Hindu Mahasabha, Himani Savarkar, was interrogated for around three hours on Friday evening by the Pune Anti-Terrorist Squad. 8220;We interrogated Himani Savarkar, as Malegaon blast accused Sameer Kulkarni, Ramesh Upadhyay and Ajay Rahirkar are members of Abhinav Bharat,8221; said an ATS official.
When contacted, Savarkar said, 8220;ATS officers sought my opinion on the Malegaon blast and Abhinav Bharat. I said Abhinav Bharat8217;s aim was to bring about a change in the education system introduced by Lord Macaulay, which does not instill national unity in our children. I also said that Abhinav Bharat works for national unity and was not involved in any anti-national activity.8221;
Savarkar said ATS officers also wanted to know her views on the Malegaon blast accused. 8220;I told ATS officials that Kulkarni, Upadhay and Rahikar were innocent and did not have any link with the Malegaon blast.8221;
ATS has consistently maintained that members of Abhinav Bharat have played a key role in the Malegaon blast.
