Here's the latest in fashion buzz from Bihar. MLAs of the state may walk the ramp to promote khadi. If the efforts of this Patna-based organisation called Renuka Art are successful, this might well be true. Reports are that some ten MLAs have already given their consent to the idea. If the plans materialise, this fashion show to promote khadi through politicians would be held on January 30, the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Martyr's Day.Though many politicians rom Bihar, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, are known for their love for khadi, their walking the ramp, according to the organisers, will generate a lot more excitement. "We wanted to promote khadi garments and we felt that politicians of the state can come to our help. We have already contacted some MLAs and will be contacting many others, so that the show becomes a grand success," said Ranjan Kumar of Renuka Art. A number of MLAs who have been contacted by the organisation are excited over the idea and have given their consent to participate in the show. "It is a very good idea. The condition of weavers in the state is very bad. I think their cause will also be promoted though the show," said one of BJP young faces, an MLA from Patna West, Nitin Navin.MLA from Darbhanga, Sanjay Saryaogi appeared to be the most excited of the lot. He has already started practising cat walking by seeing fashion shows on television. "I am very excited. I am ready to do anything to promote khadi," he said.Along with the MLAs, professional models will also take the ramp with khadi wears. The organisers have also extended an invitation to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi for the show. The invitation, however, is only to inaugurate the show and not walk the ramp. Their confirmation of participation was still awaited, said the organisers.
