CHINA: Police have reopened and cleaned up Beijing8217;s Tiananmen Square after a suicide bomber killed himself and lightly injured a South Korean tourist. Police identified the bomber as farmer Li Xiangshan from central Hubei province, insisting he had a history of quot;mental problemsquot; and was well known to the police.

VATICAN CITY: The Vatican and the Palestinians signed a key accord on Tuesday formalising the Catholic Church8217;s activities in areas of Palestinian self-rule and condemning any unilateral action in Israeli-controlled Jerusalem. Israeli authorities immediately summoned Papal nuncio Pietro Sambi to a meeting in the foreign ministry on Wednesday to protest against the accord8217;s clauses on Jerusalem.The signing followed a 15-minute meeting in the Vatican between Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Pope JohnPaul II.
