Arushi murder case: NCW to send notice to UP police

The Women Commission would serve a notice to the UP Police for using language that disgraces woman’s modesty.

The National Commission for Women would serve a notice to the Uttar Pradesh Police in connection with the Arushi murder case for using language that allegedly shows ‘disrespect’ towards women.

NCW would also seek a probe into the circulation of an MMS, allegedly of Arushi Talwar.

The UP police, which is investigating the twin murder of a teen Arushi Talwar and her domestic help Hemraj had claimed that the they were close to each other. Arushi’s father, who is in police custody and is the main accused in the case, opposed the alleged liaison between the two.

Soon after the murder of the teen, an MMS showing alleged involvement of deceased Arushi Talwar and domestic help Hemraj circulated and was flashed by some private television network.

The Commission will also take it up with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.

“We want an action taken report against the erring police officials from the Uttar Pradesh Police. The Commission will also meet Chief Minister Mayawati in this regard. This is absolutely unacceptable and we condemn the way the investigation is being conducted by the UP police,” Nirmala Venketesh, Member NCW said.

“This is very insulting. The character assassination of a minor that too after her death shows that the nobody is bothered about the dignity of a dead minor. The commission will investigate the whole matter and people behind the making of this fake MMS will have to pay heavily for this act,” she added.
