MUMBAI, October 13: Notorious gangster Arun Gawli was arrested by the Agripada police when they raided his Dagdi Chawl fortification at Byculla this evening.According to police sources, Gawli has been arrested in connection with an old case for harbouring notorious gangsters at Dagdi Chawls.However, at the time of going to press, Gawli had not yet been brought to Agripada police station for interrogation. Gawli had been released from the Thane Central Jail on September 26 after completing a one-year detention under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act (MPDA). He was earlier named in the murder of Manish Shah, a builder from Gamdevi in south Mumbai, on February 5 this year.Police sources said Gawli is also named in the murder of InMumbai Cable Network's executive director Ram Punjabi on September 11. He has filed an appeal for anticipatory bail in the case, sources revealed.
