The third meeting between the sides in 15 days ended in an easy 4-1 win for Arsenal in the FA Cup. Dennis Bergkamp gave the lead to the holders in the 19th minute. Middlesbrough equalised after 23 minutes when Joseph-Desire Job slammed home from an acute angle before Arsenal went back in front after 28 minutes when Freddie Ljungberg made space for a shot and scored after Boro failed to clear a Bergkamp free kick. Arsenal went 3-1 ahead with a second goal from Ljungberg after 68 minutes while David Bentley added a fourth in the last minute.

Earlier, the romance of the FA Cup gave away to realism when the multi-millionaires of Chelsea narrowly beat minor league Scarborough 1-0 in their potentially tricky fourth round tie on Saturday.

Chelsea took just 10 minutes to take the lead with a header from England defender John Terry.
