Special Task Force commandos today raided the ancestral house of RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin and his relatives in his native Pratapur village in Bihar’s Siwan district and took into custody two of his right-hand men.

The raids were launched by the STF with the assistance of the local police following a tip-off that criminals were taking shelter at some houses in the village and possessed sophisticated firearms.

One SLR, two rifles, one stolen motorbike and a Tata Sumo were seized during the operation, police said, adding that seven houses were raided and one deer was also recovered. Two right-hand men of Shahabuddin, Maksud and Jamaluddin, have been taken into custody for interrogation.

Shahabuddin slammed the ‘‘prejudiced’’ district administration and said he would draw the attention of Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on this development.

‘‘I have been in jails for the past two years and have not visited Pratapur since then. There is no no fresh case lodged against me. The raids reflect the prejudiced approach of the Siwan district administration,’’ said Shahabuddin, who is out of Bihar.

He added that the raids were part of the local administration’s ‘‘revengeful’’ attitude towards him since he had approached Chatterjee against Anil, complaining breach of privilege of an elected representative.
