The Ranchi High Court directed a petitioner on Thrusday to apologise to the cricketer MS Dhoni for filing a PIL “based on incomplete information” against him.

The Bench headed by Chief Justice M K Vinayagam directed a petitioner GP Sinha to apologise after he filed a petition regarding an under construction swimming pool in Dhoni’s new house, on the basis of incomplete facts.

The petitioner and some residents of Harmu Housing Colony had filed a PIL on June 19, 2007, alleging that the construction of the swimming pool would create a water scarcity in the locality.

The Bench also directed the state government to furnish details on the availability of water by April 15.

An affidavit filed by Dhoni’s father Pan Singh in January this year stated that the construction of the pool was taken up only after being approved by the technical experts of the Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA).

On the HC direction, the RRDA filed an affidavit stating that the construction of the pool would not cause scarcity of water.

Dhoni’s house with a swimming pool is coming up on a land gifted to him by the Jharkhand government for his achievements in cricket.
