MUMBAI, DECEMBER 4: If Zee TV was wondering who to blame for the no-show that is Sawal Dus Crore Ka, it didn't look too far. Anupam Kher, who has been anchoring the show that had the unenviable task of taking on Star TV's Kaun Banega Crorepati, has been `sacked'. That is, the show is being revamped, and he's not being retained for the new look. The channel has already found a replacement: actor Ashutosh Rana, whose films include Dushman, Sangharsh and Zakhm. Co-anchor Manisha Koirala will continue to do her bit. Both Rana and Koirala confirmed that they were part of the new show. However, Zee is officially putting out the story that Kher did not have the requisite dates. Said spokesperson Sainath Iyer, ``We are revamping the show purely to improve it. If Anupam Kher is going to be out, it will be based on mutual agreement and because of lack of dates from his side.'' A livid Kher countered that he is meant to shoot for the show till December 15. ``The channel hasn't informed me of the change, though I have heard the rumours. I also heard that Zee wants to change the theme of the show and give it a different look,'' he told The Indian Express.Director Gajendra Singh confirmed that Kher won't be around any more. ``The revamp is a result of the response we have received to the show so far.'' The decision to replace Kher was entirely that of the channel, said Singh, though he was entrusted with the responsibility of finding a new one to take Kher's chair. Three people were shortlisted, and Rana made the mark. What worked in Rana's favour is his impeccable command over Hindi. Rana admitted that he took on the assignment because it was a lucrative offer, but added that ``hosting this show is more a big responsibility than a big opportunity.but I'm confident that I can pull it off.''
