To put pressure on the MPA Government to scrap the six power deals signed by the previous Congress Government, the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) has announced a 12-hour bandh in East Khasi Hills district on June 27. The federation announced the agitation after a meeting on Friday. “There is no difference between the previous Congress Government and the present MPA Government. The latter has not scrapped the power deal with the six private companies as it had promised during elections,” said FKJGP president Emlang Lyttan. The FKJGP has warned of intensifying the agitation if its demands aren’t met.
