His state of New Jersey started it all… First the uproar and then the Bill that had the potential to stall one of the fastest growing industries of India—outsourcing. But when you meet visiting US Democrat and a ‘friend’ of India, Frank Pallone Jr, he exudes a different air of intercontinental business partnership. ‘‘I am fundamentally against outsourcing,’’ he confessed, but then quickly added, ‘‘Outsourcing should not be viewed only as the US jobs going out of the country.’’ And what does this Congressman see as the counter measure against the ‘O’ word? ‘‘Create jobs in America for the Americans, let them also realise that there is a huge market that they can tap here in India. Afterall, India has one of the biggest and growing middle class-moneyed segment”. In keeping with this theory, he informed that ‘‘I will be visiting the Ranbaxy plant in Delhi and we are interested in helping them open a factory in New Jersey,’’ he said in an attempt to quieten the uproar over job losses in the US, while at the same time creating a fine balance for India’s interest.
