Another marriage threatens Pak peace

A member of the Khoso tribe, however, claimed that Moosa Khoso had married an Afghan girl, Bano, and the couple had left for the nearby town of Dadu.

Khoso tribesman confirmed that the couple had anticipated extreme steps by Pakhtoon tribesmen and moved out of the area.

Bano’s family, however, claimed the girl had been abducted by the Khoso man, a charge similar to that made by the Pathans against Kanwar Ahsan before members of their community allegedly shot at him inside the Karachi court premises two days ago.

"We want the returnof the girl immediately. Don’t force us to take an extreme step," said a member of the Afghan Jirga, constituted to pursue the matter.

Meanwhile, doctors at the civil hospital in Karachi were preparing for a crucial surgery on Ahsan to remove a bullet lodged in his chest.

Doctors earlier removed two bullets from Ahsan’s abdomen and thigh but were observing his condition before going for the crucial chest operation as the bullet is lodged in his vertebral column and could lead to temporary paralysis, hospital sources said.

Ahsan, however, has gained consciousness and is breathing normally with his chest tubes, doctors said. He has also given his statement to the police.
