In yet another incident of indiscipline in the Panjab University campus, a student of the Department of Laws, misbehaved with a photo journalist of The Indian Express today.

Photo journalist Sumit Malhotra had gone to cover a protest by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members who were protesting against yesterday’s terror attack in Mumbai where he was threatened by Rajat Gautam, an ABVP member.

Rajat entered into an argument with Sumit when he asked the ABVP members to stick to their schedule. Rajat is the son of Ram Kumar Gautam, a BJP MLA from Haryana.

He also threatened the journalist with dire consequences. The other mediapersons present on the occasion then decided to boycott the event.

They also approached Vice-Chancellor Professor RC Sobti and submitted a written complaint against Rajat. A copy of the complaint was also marked to UT Senior Superintendent of Police SS Srivastava.

While the vice-chancellor has expressed serious concern over the incident, ABVP also disowned Rajat, claiming that he has no role to play in the party.
