JAIPUR, January 1: Rajasthan BJP leadership is likely to drop one of its women MPs because she is said to have done ``nothing'' during her tenure. It is alleged that her husband did not allow her to attend public functions and meet people from the constituency. His logic was irrefutable: ``Why should I allow you to meet my wife? Do you let me meet yours?'' The BJP is now thinking of fielding her husband instead. There are other seats where the party might drop sitting MPs. Among them is Pali, now represented by retired judge Guman Mal Lodha. Lodha has expressed eagerness to contest a fourth time, refuting speculation in some local dailies about his supposed unwillingness. The constituency, however, continues to be on the party's list for the axe. One reason is the perceived anger in the area over the Jain muni episode; Pali was one of the areas most affected by the agitation.Equally anxious to contest is Dau Dayal Joshi from Kota. In the last elections, he barely scraped through with a little over 600 votes, despite dissidence in the Congress camp. The party is planning to rest him and allow someone else to contest the seat. Two ministers from the area, State BJP chief Raghuvir Singh Kaushal and Lalit Kishore Chaturvedi, both with considerable influence, are possibilities for the Kota ticket.Another name doing the rounds for the seat is KK Goel. His problem is a distinct lack of appeal. The party had once given him an Assembly ticket from Bundi, under the Kota Parliamentary constituency. He did not contest, and, in fact, did not even file his nomination. The local public prevented him. There is also strong opposition to his candidature from within the party. There is also talk in party circles of changing Nagaur MP Bhanu Prakash Mirdha, son of the late Nathu Ram Mirdha. This may have to with the fact that he, till recently, had been claiming that his first choice was the Congress but failed to get a ticket from the party.Among the Ministers, Rohitashwa Sharma is keen to challenge Rajesh Pilot in his den, Dausa. An MLA from Alwar district, he had earlier defeated Pilot's wife Rama Pilot in the Assembly elections. Sharma, however, is an Independent. On the other hand, the BJP candidate from Dausa in the last elections, Kirori Lal Meena, is likely to be shifted to Sawai Madhopur from where he has been elected as an MP earlier. Some influential MPs might change their constituencies as well. Notable among them is Jaswant Singh, MP from Chittor, who might move to Barmer. Other seats being considered for him are Bhilwara and Pali. Jaswant Singh, like Bhairon Singh Shekhawat - to whom he is very close - is known for changing his constituency every time. The list of candidates is expected to be prepared on January 8. State BJP president Kaushal hoped it would be finalised and sent to Delhi by January 11. Rajasthan will be taken up for consideration at a meeting of the central leadership that day.
