MUMBAI, March 14: An unbeaten century by Amit Velaskar helped Shivaji Park Youngsters (SPY) to 226 for two against Islam Gymkhana in the second-round of the Young Comrade Cricket Shield Tournament at the Islam Gymkhana today.
He added 118 runs for the third wicket with Amit Aroskar. Velaskar’s inning of 125 had two sixes and 18 fours while Asarkar had ten boundaries in his 64. In another match played at Brabourne Stadium, a five-wicket haul by Mayank Khandwala enabled Cricket Club of India to restrict Bombay Gymkhana to 144 for eight. Opener Vijay Naidu contributed 55 to Bombay Gymkhana’s score.
Mandhar Gokarna, the medium-pace bowler from MB Union scalped five wickets for 21 while Rajasthan were restricted to 118 for eight at the Cross Maidan.In another match played today, Khar Gymkhana finished the day with 174 for four against Shivaji Park Gymkhana.
Sujit Gadkari was unbeaten on 69 and he added 73 runs for the fifth wicket with Dinesh Nanavatty (34).
