Having established its position as a giant in the field of science and technology, India is all set to have a “Discovery Park” – the first of its kind in Asia – aimed at bringing the state-of-the-art technological facilities to the masses.

The “Discovery Park”, for which an approval has been given by the Ministry of Science and Technology, is likely to be set-up in the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology (RGIIT), Amethi, an extension campus of Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad (IIIT-A).

“The RGIIT, which was set-up four years ago, was named after the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi as a tribute to his vision for a technologically advanced India in the 21st century. We have therefore decided to rope in his son and charismatic Congress leader and MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi for laying the foundation stone.” IIIT-A, Director, Dr M D Tiwari said.
