MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 8: Saurabh Ambatkar’s all-round display powered Shardashram, Marathi to a 73-run victory over Raja Shivaji and paved their entry into the semi-final of the Kelloggs Super Cup Inter-School cricket tournament.

Ambatkar compiled 30 in his side’s total of 173 and put on 91 runs for the eighth wicket with Atish Golatkar (57). He then went on to capture three wickets for 41 runs to restrict Raja Shivaji for 100 at the Cross Maidan on Tuesday. He was ably supported by leg-spinner Sanchet Pande who took five for 23.

Half-centuries by S Shaikh (56) and Shahbez Khan (57) wasn’t enough for Tarapur Vidyamandir who went down to IES VN Sule Guruji by 65 runs.

Ankit Chopra’s unbeaten 64 helped St Mary’s ISC to a six-wicket win over Antonio D’Silva.

Shetye, Gadhwalla shine

Rahul Shetye (114: 13×4) and Zaheer Gadhwalla (122: 16×4, 2×6) shared the batting honours in the first round of the Mahim Dadar Challenge Shield played on Sunday.

While Shetye’s ton spurred Bharat CC to a 129-run victory over Cricket Club of Shivaji Park, Zaheer’s century enabled Dadar Parsee Colony to down Milton CC by six wickets. Zaheer was also involved in a 170-run association for the third wicket with Sunil Patil (71:13×4).

Vijay More (6-21) took the bowling honours as he played the lead role in Union CC’s nine-wicket win over Sporting Union.

Defending champions Space Travel defeated Colaba Meteorological Deptt by 10 wickets in the first round of the Indian Airlines tournament that got under way on Tuesday.

Five qualify

Five teams — AFS, Global Telesystems, Prudential-ICICI, Proctor & Gamble and PiramalEnterprises — qualified for the Champions Cup knock-out category in the Mahindra Realty Corporate 7s Tournament.
