Bangalore, March 20: Puttanna-trained Amazer brought off a stunning upset in the 1600 metres Stewards Trophy, a race for horses rated 40 to 55, the main event of the penultimate day's Bangalore Winter Races held here on Friday.Jockey Aslam Kader took favourite Creativity to the front from the word `go' and the lead established appeared to be a winning one but Amazer and Ultima finished with a flourish the former nosing out the front-runner on the post. Ultima was an identical distance behind the runner-up.Followers of Aslam had a miserable day as another strongly supported favourite Amazing Maid not only finished runner-up due to his poor handling but was disqualified as the jockey weighed less than the declared weight after the race. Pesi Shroff who took Cavonnier on a start to finish mission, with Amazing Maid racing second but Aslam inexplicably let Sacrament to go past him rounding the bend, getting himself blocked in the process. Though Amazing Maid finished with a flourish after being switched onthe wide outside, the lead established by the front-runner in the meantime held him in good stead.The results with dividends paid at Mahalakshmi and Pune.1.
