The Punjab Vigilance today arrested former Akali minister Sohan Singh Thandal and ex-chairman of Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) G.S. Sohal. Apart from them, CEO of Punjab Digital Industrial System, Manmohan Singh, Superintendent Engineer (Irrigation), S.K. Bansal, and Senior Executive Engineer of PSEB, A.K. Khanna, have also been arrested. Thandal is the sixth Akali minister to be detained by the present government.The spate of arrests comes at a time when the government is reeling under charges of moral turpitude, especially by the Akalis. Interestingly, all former Akali ministers — Sucha Singh Langah, Jagdish Singh Garcha, Tota Singh, Ajit Singh Kohar and Gurdev Singh Badal — who have been arrested by the Vigilance Bureau, are known to be diehard Badal loyalists.
