BANGALORE, March 11: A hat-trick by Alvito D’Cunha helped Sesa, Goa win 3-1 and earn full points against South Central Railway in Group C of the Second Division National Football League here today.

The match was completedly dominated by Sesa Goa. Left-out Alvito with the help of Levino Pereira scored two goals in the 25th and 35th minute of the first half.

The Sesa mid-fielders played an important role in the match which ultimately gave an upper hand to the strikers. Goalkeeper Apanna of SC Railway was kept busy right throughout the 90 minutes.

The lone goal for the Railways came in the 45th minute through Amureeddin Quadri off Yahiya Hussain. It was a solo effort from Amureeddin.

After receiving the pass from the half line, Alvito smashed the ball in from outside the box.

Alvito’s superb ball control and conversion in the 64th minute fetched him the hat-trick. He tackled a defender and deceived the goalkeeper and smashed it in.

Alvito was unlucky in the 89th minute when one of his shots fromthe centre took the inside edge of the horizontal bar and rebounded.With this win, Sesa has seven points from three matches — two wins and a draw.

Nickson nets winner

JABALPUR: Vasco Sports Club, Goa, were humbled Jobra Durga Club of Orissa by a second half goal in a group A match of the Second Division Philips National Football League at the Ravishanker Shukla Stadium here today.

The all-important goal was netted in the 38th minute after the breather by substitute Lous Nickson following a measured cross from Aldrian Dias.

However, the Orissa custodian Sukadev Soren had effected at least half a dozen fine saves to save his team from loosing on a wider margin. In the first half, he made two spectacular saves to prevent Alderian Dias and Dennis Cabrol from scoring.

Some rash and rough game was witnessed in the fast paced first half and the referee BR Yadav showed yellow card to Vasco’s Aldrian Dias.

Vasco are now placed at the third spot in the groupwith five points from three matches. They had drawn the earlier matches against Karnataka Police and Eastern Sporting Club, Manipur while the Orissa Club are yet to gain a point.

Goalless draw

TBL 0 M Sporting 0

GUWAHATI: The spirited TBL, Mizoram held fancied Mohammedan Sporting to a goaless draw in the second division National Football League being played at the Nehru Stadium here today.

Displaying a gallant performance, the Mizoram boys kept their much-fancied opponent at bay and came close to scoring at least four times when poor finishing saved the day from ultimate humilation of the Calcutta club.

Mohammedan Sporting, their performances sliding downwards over the last couple of years, looked a demoralised team and apart from a brief moment of last ten minutes of the games there was nothing to write about the famed black and white outfit.

The stocky midfielders of the Mizoram controlled the game throughout but their lack of self confidence in defeating fancied team letthem down. Their forwards were also not aggressive but they still rocked the Sporting citadel, exposing custodian Arpan Dey completely.

In the dying minute Sporting were denied of sure goal when Pratap Senapati’s shot was blocked at the goaline by Lalteipuia. Sporting now have five points from three outings and they are lying in the second position of the group B. BSF, Jalandhar is heading the table with six points by winning all their three matches. TBL have now three points from two games.
