CHANDIGARH, Feb 14: An all round performance by Munish Arora (48 and 2 for 20) enabled Godrej Cricket Club beat PGI XI by 16 runs in the Amartex Cup league cricket tournament held at Sector 5, Panchkula today.

Godrej CC won the toss and elected to bat. The team scored 173 in the allotted 25 overs. Munish hit the rival bowlers all over the field. His knock of 48 runs included seven boundaries.

Gurinder Saini (33) and Vaneet Chawla (30) also contributed to the total. Anil Choudhary scalped four wickets.

Chasing the total PGI XI batsmen fell short of 16 runs. The team scored 157 runs in the allotted 25 overs, losing 8 wickets.

Rajinder (53) and Amit Bhardwaj (36) were the main scorers for PGI.

Girish Bhanot took three wickets while Munish and Vinod got two each.

In another match JAL Cricket Club defeated Panchkula Coaching Centre by 136 runs.

Sarpreet deadly
Sarpreet Singh’s fine spell of 4 for 15 helped Sagar Sports scored 8 runs victory over Victorious XI in the second Shanker Lal Memorial cricket tournament held at CRPF ground today.

After a bad start, Sagar Sports scored 111 runs in the stipulated 25 overs. Anil Sharma (20) and Deepak (16) were the main run getter for the team.

Abhishek and Nitin got twowickets each for the loser.

Victorious XI batsmen were unable to face the hostile spell of Sarpreet Singh, who took four wickets. Satish also got two for the winner.

Brief Scores: Sagar Sports: 119 in 21.2 overs (Anil Sharma 20, Deepak 16, Shekar 15, Abhishek 2 for 6, Nitin 2 for 6): Victorious XI: 111 in 22 overs (Kishore 21, Harish 15, Sarpreet Singh 4 for 15, Satish 2 for 22).

Raman to lead
Raman will lead eight-member AG Haryana team, including two women in the North Zone Indian Audit and Account Department badminton tournament to be held here at Sector 42 Badminton hall from February 16 to 18. Other members of the team includes — Didar Singh, Parveen Kumar, Sumar Singh, Shadab Aktar and Saroop Singh.

Saroj Chaudhary and Versha Verma will contest in the women’s category.

TK Dogra is the lone entry in the veteran section.
